The benefits
Polyurethane is a synthetic hard foam that was invented in 1937, but was only used for insulation purposes decades later. It distinguishes itself from other insulation materials – e.g. mineral wool, glass wool and EPS – though a number of unique characteristics. These characteristics offer various benefits which in fact apply to all Ecotherm products delivered by Huisman.
High insulation value
Polyurethane has a high insulation value: by using polyurethane one can save 40 to 50 % on natural gas per year compared to conventional insulation.
Cost saving
Polyurethane insulation is a relatively compact material. Therefore costs can be cut considerably in storage and transport.
Long life span
Polyurethane is an insulation material with an almost unlimited life span. As the years pass, your investment will continue to prove its worth.
Sustainable insulation value
The insulation value which EcoTherm guarantees for its products is based on the average of 15 years after production. At the moment of purchasing the actual value is even somewhat higher. After a number of years the value will at least remain stable.
Reuse is possible
Insulating sheets of polyurethane can be re-used in the building trade. In addition, polyurethane, mixed with ordinary household waste, can be incinerated in special ovens. The large quantities of so-called ‘caloric energy’ that are released in this process, can be subsequently used for the heating of offices and other industrial spaces.
Fire safety
The burning behaviour of insulation material does not in itself determine the fire safety of a construction. Therefore EcoTherm has the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) determine the fire class of all its products in accordance with the most realistic criterion, namely the end use conditions.
