Steel structure:
The steel rafters are made in free span from IPE/HEA profiles. The steel has been steel blasted and treated against corrosion with a zinc phosphate coating. This coating is alkyd based, environmentally friendly, non-toxic and provides good protection against corrosion. The steel can be hot-dip galvanised at an additional charge.
Timber rafter construction:
We make use of timber rafter constructions for our timber constructed sheds. These are made from pinewood, 10 cm thick, with corner strengthening of double-walled plywood and hot-dip galvanised steel tie rods. The wood can be impregnated at an additional charge.
Wind bracings:
We install crosses of hot-dip galvanised Ø16 mm steel rods between the rafters, making use of a special screw system. Crosses of strip steel are installed between the principal rafters with special turnbuckles. Wind load rods made of square tubes are also used in the larger sheds.
Purlins:
We deliver both pinewood and galvanised steel purlins.
Pinewood is installed on the basis of a strength-calculation; it is fitted on the rafters. The purlins are connected to each other by means of a Huisman butt joint, which is secure enough to allow pressure by loading and pulling without breaking apart. We fit strip steel in the middle of each rafter plane over the purlins for extra strength. The purlins can be impregnated at an additional charge. This gives the timber additional protection against mould, rotting and insects.
You also have the choice to apply galvanised steel purlins; these are applied especially with panelled or single-walled steel sheet roofing. The steel purlins are delivered in Z/C profiles according to a strength calculation.
